John Mikel Obi fined £60,000 less than a week he signed in a five year new contract with Chelsea

This was quite controversial to some people who complained that the punishment was not enough, it could have been more severe than the three-match ban and fined £60,000 by the Football Association for threatening referee Mark Clattenburg.

A recap of how it all escalated to that:

As at the end of  the match Chelsea versus Manchester United at Stamford Bridge game in October 28, that left Chelsea fans ecstatic 3-2. Mikel obi dissatisfied as he claimed he was racially abused by Mark Clattenburg during the match, which led to the threat at the changing room. Though, Mark Clattenburg, the referee was cleared of all charges,Mikel was given three-match suspension to begin with immediate effect and fined £60,000
