Rio’s Christ the Redeemer statue, check out the 80,000 at Maracana



80,000 people all gathered to watch the four-hour party to kick off South America’s first Olympics.
Though some of the Brazilian citizens were not happy about the multi-billion-pound cost of the Games the Brazil’s rulers pumped into it to make this glam, as a result, there were a littledemonstration on the streets before the ceremony started to vent their anger since. Brazil is battling a crippling recession, double-digit unemployment and rising crime.
