Mikel Obi is now the highest-paid Nigerian footballer

John Obi Mikel has received the sum of £2million (N1billion) from his former club, Chelsea, as severance package.

The Super Eagles captain spent 10 years at the club, before he departed in the January transfer window to sign for Chinese Super League side, Tianjin TEDA.

As part of the gesture to appreciate the 29-year-old, the Stamford Bridge club did not negotiate any fee for the midfielder and have now paid him off with his wages for the last six months of his deal.

The Nigerian made 374 appearances for the Blues and won 11 major trophies.

Mikel Obi is now the highest-paid Nigerian footballer having signed a £140,000-per-week contract with TEDA.

He has since joined his new team-mates in Malaga, instead of taking time off after the club gave him permission to rest following his medical in Amsterdam.

Yaya Toure Scores 2 Goals

Pep Guardiola gives Yaya Toure a second chance, starts Him For 1st Time & he scores 2 Goals on Saturday’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace which has moved Man City level at the top of the league.
This is the first time Toure is playing this season for Man City in the EPL after he was frozen out by Pep Guardiola following ‘insulting’ statements from Yaya’s agent.

Toure was told by Guardiola in September that he would not play for City again unless his agent Dmitry Seluk apologised for claiming Guardiola had “humiliated” his client by omitting him from the club’s 25-man Champions League squad.

Guardiola’s statements made Yaya Toure release a statement before the FIFA international break, apologizing for his agent’s statements and urging for forgiveness from the club.

Victor Moses & Mikel Obi did show their skills@ 2018 WC qualifier

On Saturday evening Nigeria  beat Algeria 3-1 in Uyo, making it their second win of Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifying officially making Nigeria become the first team to defeat Les Verts of Algeria by two goals since Ivory Coast at AFCON 2015.

Victor Moses scored 2 goals and goal from captain John Mikel Obi though Gernot Rohr's men were not discouraged despite a fightback from Algeria in the second half.
